Once again, our chapter's service to Hillsides will be a landscaping project led by longtime PSULA member Frank Tremmel. Frank's leadership ensures that Hillsides landscape is updated with a native landscape that is sustainable and easy to maintain. For nearly 100 years, Hillsides has created a safe place for children by treating abuse, neglect, and mental illness; strengthening families, providing special education; and advocating for children's rights. From its inception in 1913 to present-day status as a private, non-profit treatment center, Hillsides works to end the cycle of abuse that destroys children and tears families apart by touching the lives of over 8,000 children and their families each year. Hillsides' main campus is located on 17 acres of rolling hills in a quiet neighborhood of Pasadena with six residential cottages and two off-campus stellite treatment homes for teenagers.
